About
- Zoledronic acid is a third-generation bisphosphonate that has recently been approved in 2007 by U.S. FDA for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis asan annual intravenous infusion.
- Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and abnormal bone quality which lead to decreased bone strength and increased susceptibility to fractures and has a higher prevalence in elderly people and post-menopausal women
- EUROZOLD is 100 to 850 times more potent than pamidronate in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis
Indication
- Eurozold is used to treat osteoporosis as well as hypercalcemia that may occur with cancer patients. Zoledronic acid administered as a 5 mg intravenous infusion annually increases bone mineral density
